Summary of Profile

Francisca (‘cisca) is currently an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the Federal University, Lokoja Nigeria. Nigeria. She is an alumna of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Masscahusetts Institute of Technology and the USA International Exchange Program (TechWomen).

Her research interests spanned various areas of Computer Science and Applied Computing but she is presently promoting research on the Engineering of evolutionary software systems, with specific focus on prolonging the lifetime of software system thereby reducing the cost of developing and deploying software in developing economies. Francisca is an advocate of reusing legacy software to preserve past investments and save costs. As part of her original goals is to find ways to deploy optimal Information System solutions with minimal infrastructures, she is presently seeking  graduate students in the software engineering research group to design and develop a set of techniques based on the “RE-technologies”, building tools that support the re-use, re-factory, re-engineer and re-cycle for software components in order to preserve the corporate investments in legacy systems, reduce the production and maintenance costs and avoid the negative business impact of migrating to an entirely new software.

She has published numerous papers detailing her research experiences in both local and international journals and presented research papers in several international conferences. She is also a reviewer and editorial board member of many international scientific publications. She is a member of several professional and scientific associations both within Nigeria and beyond; they include the European Alliance for Innovation (EAI), British Computer Society (BCS), Nigerian Computer Society (NCS), Computer Professionals (Regulatory Council) of Nigeria, the Global Internet Governance Academic Network (GigaNet), International Association Of Computer Science and Information Technology (IACSIT ), the Internet Society (ISOC), Diplo Internet Governance Community, The Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering (ICST) and the Africa ICT Network
