The Vice Chancellor's Welcome Address

It is my privilege and pleasure to welcome all our incoming and returning students of this young but promising University. We pledge to give you modern, robust and competitive education so that you will graduate to become responsible and responsive citizens of your various communities and our country, Nigeria. It is also our solemn resolve to inculcate into you the need to be enterprising so that you can become self-reliant at the end of your studies.

We appreciate the fact that we are in the age of computerization and technology. We therefore must ensure that courses taught are ICT-Compliant. In order to achieve our goals we expect our students to be conscientious, diligent and law abiding. Training shall be two-fold:  first, is character, then learning. Degrees will be awarded based on character and learning as we consider these ingredients essential for a successful future.

To our members of staff, we assure you that we shall aspire to provide the enabling environment and a conducive atmosphere to enable you to make your valuable contributions to this young institution that we can all be proud of.

Already, a strong rapport has been established by the University with the host community of Kogi State. We must all build on this happy beginning, to ensure the steady growth and development of the institution.

Once again, I welcome you all. Sic itur ad astra.

Professor Angela Freeman Miri
Vice-Chancellor
