Prof. Ibileye Takes Over as Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies as Prof. Audu Bows Out

The newly appointed Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye has taken over from the Pioneer Dean of the School, Professor Patrick Amidu Audu. The handing over ceremony which was coordinated by Mr. Nuhu Shamaki, Deputy Registrar and Secretary to the PG School and took place on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at the Postgraduate building, Adankolo Campus, was also attended by the newly appointed Deputy Dean (Academics), Professor Tanko Dauda and Deputy Dean (Administration), Dr. Aito O. Ofure.

 

Professor Audu, who thanked the immediate past administration of the University for the opportunity given to him to serve as the Pioneer Dean of the PG School, expressed joy that Professor Ibileye was the one taking over, stating that the Professor of English gave him useful suggestions in ensuring that the PG School, at its infant days, started on a good footing.

 

The Outgoing Dean also thanked the current Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi for giving him the needed support and commended his lofty vision and plan for the PG School. While praying for the success of the Incoming Dean, Professor Audu urged Members of Staff of the School to extend the same support and cooperation to his successor.

 

In his remarks, the new Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Gbenga Ibileye expressed deep appreciation to Professor Patrick Audu for his pioneering roles, as well as the modest achievements the PG School recorded under his watch, adding that he would continue to tap into the rich reservoir of knowledge and experience of the Outgoing Dean.

 

Similarly, Staff of the School of Postgraduate Studies took turns to eulogize the personality and sterling leadership qualities of the Pioneer Dean, particularly for his courage and perseverance even in the midst of daunting challenges facing the PG School. While commending him for his fatherly role, mentorship, encouragement and passion for the development of the PG School, the Staff expressed their best wishes and prayed for him as he step aside, having served out his tenure successfully.

 

High point of the event was the presentation of handover notes to Professor Gbenga Ibileye as he officially takes over the mantle of leadership as the 2nd Dean, School of Postgraduates Studies, Federal University Lokoja. Award plaque and gifts were presented to the Outgone Dean by Professor Ibileye on behalf of the Staff.
