FUL VC, Prof. Akinwumi, Five Other Leading Humanistic Scholars Admitted into the College of Fellows of the Nigerian Academy of Letters

"Today, July 8, 2021, I am delighted to announce that six leading humanistic scholars have been conferred the award of the Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL).

They have been admitted into the prestigious Fellowship of the Academy on the basis of their outstanding contributions to scholarship and extension of the frontiers of knowledge in their various subfields of the Humanities.

The Fellows of the Nigerian Academy of Letters are a group of distinguished scholars of the humanities, nominated and elected in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the humanistic scholarship.

The six new Fellows have been elected following a robust review process; they have been recognised for the excellence of their research outputs. The new Fellows of NAL, highly accomplished in their fields, are as follows:

  1. Professor Ahmed Parker Yerima (Theatre Arts - Regular Fellow)
  2. Professor Adebola Babatunde Ekanola (Philosophy - Regular Fellow)
  3. Professor Frank Maduabuchi Dukor (Philosophy - Regular Fellow)
  4. Professor Olayemi Durotimi Akinwumi (History - Regular Fellow)
  5. Professor Lateef Babatunde Ayeleru (French - Regular Fellow)
  6. Professor Isidore Okeawolam Diala (Literature - Regular Fellow)

Also, His Eminence, Most Reverend Dr. Matthew Hassan Kukah, the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, has been elected as an Honorary Fellow of the Academy.
