The Governing Council of Federal University Lokoja, under the able leadership of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Distinguished Senator Chris Iheanyichukwu Adighije, has described the outgoing Registrar of the University, Adm Usman Suleman Obansa as an embodiment of humility, dedication, patience and commitment.

This was disclosed during the 2^nd Extraordinary Meeting of the 3rd Governing Council held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Council Chambers, Adankoko Campus, following the successful interview conducted and subsequent announcement of Mrs Rebecca Aimiohu Okojie who emerged as the 3^rd Registrar of the University.

During the valedictory session, Senator Adighije appreciated the purposeful leadership provided by Malam Obansa throughout his five-year tenure as the 2^nd Registrar of the eleven-year-old University, while felicitating with him over the successful completion of his tenure.

It was indeed a distinctive moment of reflections, stocktaking and celebration of Adm Obansa’s stewardship as members of Council took turns to eulogize and paid glowing tributes to him. "We will miss your witty quotes, friendly disposition and beautiful signature," one of the members remarked.

While responding, the outgoing Registrar, who was greatly astonished at the accolades showered on him, thanked the Council Chairman and members of the 3^rd Governing Council for their support and encouragement throughout the period of his stewardship as the Chief Administrator of the University. He added that he was only performing his official duties in obedience to the principle of his profession.

“I am indeed grateful and appreciative of this moment in my life. Yes, I would have loved that events turned out differently for me, as an outgoing Registrar who has trained people that can take over from me, but no one can beat providence. We wanted the best and the best has emerged. I am happy and ready to give the needed support to the incoming Registrar. I will give her all the necessary assistance that will enable her to settle down quickly for her duty," he assured the Governing Council.

The astute and accomplished administrator, who was overcome with emotion, stated further: "I love Federal University Lokoja (FUL) and I will always hold her in high esteem. I pray that the position FUL has attained will be sustained and even attain greater heights. I will be happy to hear that this University is growing from strength to strength. I will treat FUL as my base, for indeed it is, and it is the best in the life of my career."

Adm Obansa’s tenure as the 2^nd Registrar of FUL will come to a successful end in February, 2022.
