Today, February 23, 2022, a tripartite meeting of the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Lokoja, and the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) was held at the office of the Director, Department of Hospital Services, Federal Ministry of Health, Abuja.
The meeting revolved around the Memorandum of Understanding between FMC Lokoja and FUL which was extensively discussed and agreed upon. Consequently, all parties involved have unanimously agreed that the FMC Lokoja be converted to FUL Teaching Hospital while working in synergy to ensure that the Federal University Lokoja College of Health Sciences (FULCOHS) comes to reality.
A delegation from the Federal Ministry of Health has also been constituted to visit the facilities at both Institutions to ascertain their level of readiness for the relationship before a comprehensive report was forwarded to President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR for approval.
While the team from the Federal Medical Centre Lokoja was led by the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Olatunde Alabi, the team from Federal University Lokoja was ably led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi.
Also, the delegation from FUL included Honourable Sani Anka, representing the University Governing Council; Professor Ozovehe Mike Ogirima mni, Provost, FUL College of Health Sciences; Professor M. S. Audu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics); and Professor A. E. Bala, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).
Others were Mrs. Rebecca A. Okojie, Registrar; Mr. Sule John Shilo, Bursar; Dr. Mrs. Sarah Yani, University Librarian; Mr. E. D. Obafemi, SSA to the Vice-Chancellor; and Mr. Usman Abdulkadir, FULCOHS Secretary, amongst others.
