NCS 2022 TECHIES WEEK: FUL ICT Dons Receive Awards of Recognition

For their respective roles in ICT development and contributions to the advancement of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), particularly the Kogi State Chapter, Professor Sunday Eric Adewumi, Director of ICT; Professor Francisca Onaolapo Oladipo, HOD Computer Science and Director, Quality Assurance; and Dr Emeka Ogbuju from the Department of Computer Science (all staff of Federal University Lokoja, FUL), received awards of recognition/certificates of appreciation at the just concluded 2022 Techies Week organized by the State Chapter of the professional body.

While Professor Adewumi is the pioneer HOD, Computer Science and former Dean, Faculty of Science, Professor Oladipo is also the Executive Coordinator, VODAN Africa & Asia and now the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor, Thomas Adewumi University (TAU). Both of them are Fellows of the Nigeria Computer Society.

During the two-day event which was declared open by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, the State Chairperson of NCS, Dr (Mrs) Oluwakemi S. Ayodele thanked the distinguished scholars for delivering various engaging topics at their monthly webinar and workshop within the period under review. 

Dr Ayodele, who expressed appreciation to the Management of FUL under the visionary leadership of Professor Akinwumi for its support and giant stride in ensuring that the University is ICT-driven, equally thanked Professor Adewumi for delivering a thought-provoking keynote address on "Emerging Technologies and Adoption in Nigeria" during the event.

Earlier, the State Chapter of NCS presented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi with a "Tech for Good Award" in recognition of his passion and Administration's drive in making FUL ICT-friendly through the application of cloud technology in all its operations, while the former MD/CEO SIDMACH Technology, Elder Adebayo Peter Sunday (APS) Arogundade also bagged the "Information Technology Executive of the Year Award." According to the organizers, the Award seeks to recognize institutions and managers who are using the power of cloud technology in making the world a better place.

Other academics/individuals honoured at the event for presenting webinar topics at various times were: Dr Gideon Damaryam (USA), Dr Pauline Ann Baba (KSU), Engr. John Enoh (USA), Mr Ajayi Ebenezer Akinwumi (Malaysia), Mr Jacob Iorpev (South Africa) and Mr Osumah Thomas (FCE, Okene), amongst others who joined virtually in receiving their recognitions.
