The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi has called on Chaplains across Nigerian Universities to intensify their prayers for the light of God to permeate our Campuses and dispel the ravaging darkness that seems to have taken over our citadels of learning.

Professor Akinwumi made the urgent call while receiving in audience members of the Association of Nigeria University Chaplains, ANUC (North-Central Zone) who paid a courtesy visit to his office on Friday, 26th August, 2022 as part of activities of the Association's Inaugural Zonal Conference (Lokoja 2022) which took place at the Chapel of Grace Sanctuary, Federal University Lokoja.

While speaking to the clerics, the Vice-Chancellor who expressed dissatisfaction over the increasing rate of cultism, moral decadence, social vices, and all forms of ungodliness being perpetuated on campuses nowadays, charged the religious body to immediately seek God's supernatural intervention through intense and sincere prayers to stem the tide and bring an end to these menaces that have eaten deeply into the fabrics of our tertiary Institutions.

Underpinning the critical role of the clergymen in giving spiritual direction and promoting peace, the Professor of history urged the Christian leaders to be more courageous and strong in the faith as genuine ambassadors of light, adding that darkness should not thrive where the light is truly dominating through continuous prayers.

During the meeting, the Chaplain of the host church - Chapel of Grace FUL and ANUC Coordinator, North-Central Zone, Pastor Olukayode Ajibade while thanking the Vice-Chancellor for his unwavering support for the Chapel and ensuring the success of the conference, gave an outline of the achievements of the Prof. Akinwumi-led Administration. He commended the Vice-Chancellor's visionary and pragmatic leadership that has brought remarkable developments to the University since he assumed office.

The Chaplain, therefore, on behalf of the Association, conferred an award of "Outstanding Performance" on Professor Olayemi Akinwumi in recognition of his excellent leadership and transformation of the Federal University Lokoja and dogged commitment to God and selfless service to humanity.

The Registrar equally expressed gratitude to ANUC North-Central Zone for honouring the Vice-Chancellor with the award which was an endorsement of his notable achievements and exceptional leadership that would further propel the Administration in its indubitably drive of bringing rapid development and transformation to the University.
