FUL Shining Stars: Governor Yahaya Bello Appoints FUL Alumnus as SSA on Humanitarian Affairs


The Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello has appointed a former student of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Comrade Muhammed Avavome Mamood as his Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Humanitarian Affairs.

It was indeed a day of joy and celebration as Comrade Mamood received his appointment letter on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), in the company of the newly appointed Alumni Officer of the University, Mr. Mohammed Sanni Yusuf, a former Students' Union President, Mr. Okutepa Momoh Alhaji, among other friends and well-wishers who graced the auspicious ceremony.

Comrade Mamood who studied Political Science has been at the forefront of students' unionism and leadership right from his undergraduate days in FUL. He is a leading figure and unionist who has demonstrated excellent and uncommon leadership qualities in advancing the welfare of students and Nigerian youths at different levels.

Some of the notable positions he held during and after his undergraduate programme at the University include Interim Students' Union (SU) President 2016/2017 (immediately after the ban on students' unionism was lifted in FUL by Management), Second President of the National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), FUL Chapter, and the Pioneer Rotary President, FUL branch.

The Political Scientist, who served as the Chief of Staff to Comrade M.S. Yusuf when the latter emerged as the Pioneer President of the Federal University Lokoja Alumni Association (FULAA) in November 2017, is also the current elected Publicity Secretary of FULAA.

Meanwhile, the Professor Olayemi Akinwumi-led Administration has restated its unwavering commitment towards ensuring that FUL has a vibrant Alumni Association through which it would continue to recognize and celebrate its shinning stars who are already making the University proud in their various fields of endeavours.
