The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Olayemi Akinwumi has enjoined Christians to exemplify Christ’s virtue by showing genuine love toward others irrespective of religious and ethnic divides during and beyond the festive season. Professor Akinwumi made the clarion call while celebrating this year’s Christmas, commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, with members of staff and students of the Institution in Lokoja.

In a message released by the University's Public Relations Officer, Mr. Daniel Ikechukwu Nwankwo, the Vice-Chancellor called on all staff and students of the University as well as Nigerians to continue to emulate the exemplary humility of Jesus Christ, saying that a better society is assured when people humble themselves and live in peace with one another.

He, therefore, seized the auspicious occasion of Christmas to urge staff and students to imbibe the attribute of love and continue to live in peace with one another as they celebrate the joyous season with sober reflection.

The erudite Professor of History, who expressed great joy over his Administration’s achievements in the last twelve months, thanked God for the successes the University recorded within the year under review, particularly the recent grant awarded to FUL by Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) under its Tertiary Education Grants Scheme (TEGS) for infrastructural development. He equally acknowledged the staunch commitment and team spirit of his Management and all staff of the University while appreciating them for their sacrifices and continued support.

"To you my colleagues and my dear students, I say this year is ending on a note of great joy! Looking back at all that we have accomplished together, our successes and trials, I can only thank God and pray that He rewards you abundantly with His blessings and that your families have the merriest Christmas full of happiness, splendor, and prosperity.

May you have the most fantastic moment celebrating the auspicious season with your families and friends,” the VC added.
