It was indeed a service of celebration and thanksgiving to God as the Chapel of Grace, Federal University Lokoja (FUL) marked her 10th Anniversary (2013-2023). The anniversary celebration tagged "A New Thing" took place between 26th and 29th January, 2023 at the Chapel of Grace Sanctuary, Adankolo Campus.

The lined-up activities organized to commemorate the 10th anniversary climaxed with a joyous thanksgiving service on Sunday which was graced by dignitaries including the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi along with his amiable wife, Mrs. Justina Akinwumi, Professors, Staff, and Students, among other distinguished personalities within and outside the University.

While delivering his goodwill message at the historic event, the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of Management congratulated the entire Council of the Chapel ably led by Professor Idris Jayeoba and members on the auspicious occasion of the 10th anniversary. He equally joined the congregation in giving thanks to God for bringing the Chapel thus far and for the notable exploits witnessed within the past decade.

The Vice-Chancellor used the occasion to particularly acknowledge the important role played by religious leaders in the University, appreciating them for their moral and spiritual impact on the lives of staff and students. Professor Akinwumi commended the leaders for their selfless commitment to promoting peace and religious tolerance at the University.

"Specifically, the sound teachings of God's Word, prayers, and godly counsel that our students are exposed to at the Chapel of Grace have assisted the University in no small measure in nurturing and moulding their character - an integral requirement before our certificates are awarded to deserving students.

"Indeed, it's been ten solid years of serving as a moral compass and partner in raising future leaders who are spiritually equipped and sound in both learning and character for the overall good of our great Nation; this and many more successes we are grateful to God for attaining in these past ten years," the Vice-Chancellor added.

In his sermon entitled "A New Beginning," the Guest Speaker and President, Christ Life Word Assembly International, Lokoja, Rev. Dr. Samuel Owolabi, admonished members of the church to live right in order to enjoy the blessings of a new beginning that God has prepared for the church while praying for all-round growth in the years ahead.

On his part, the Chaplain of the Chapel, Pastor Kayode Ajibade, recognized the contributions of some pioneer members of the church who have remained steadfast and committed since its inception. Members in this category were beautifully decorated by some of the dignitaries as they were called out by the Chaplain to receive their awards.

Other high points of the epoch-making event included the cutting of the anniversary cake, dedication/unveiling of the 10th-anniversary magazine, and thanksgiving session which was led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, just as prayers were offered for the Chapel as well as members of the anniversary planning committee chaired by Professor Naphtali John.
