The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, has charged the newly inaugurated executive of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA), FUL Branch to see their emergence as a call for selfless service to the Association and the University, urging them to work as a team to justify the confidence reposed in them by the members.

Professor Akinwumi gave the admonition when the newly elected Chairman of the Association, Mr. Leonard Unekwu Haruna, led other members of the executive on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor in his office at the main campus of the University. The VC, who was elated and impressed with the new leadership and its vision to take ANUPA to a greater height, enjoined them not to betray the trust of other administrators who voted them into offices, imploring the Chairman to carry every Exco member along and seek their views on all matters.

He emphasized the need for capacity building for ANUPA members through workshops and conferences which present opportunity for networking, and urged the Exco to prioritize members welfare and personal development to compete with their counterparts in other tertiary Institutions. While congratulating them on their victory in the recent elections, the Vice-Chancellor assured them of his administration's support and commitment to staff development.

In his remarks during the courtesy visit, the new Chairman, Mr. Leonard Haruna, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the warm reception and lauded his administration for the positive development he has attracted to the University within a short time, adding that the VC deserved ANUPA's honorary Fellowship. He solicited Management's sponsorship and support to enable about 30 of his members attend the Association's 2024 AGM and Annual Conference in Abuja, of which the VC immediately directed the Director of Works to make adequate arrangements for their transportation to and fro.

The Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators, FUL Branch conducted elections for a new executive that would pilot the affairs of the Association for the next two (2) years. The ANUPA, an umbrella body of all administrators in the Nigerian university system, serves as the training arm of the Association of Registrars of Nigerian Universities (ARNU).

The elections, which held on 12th November 2024 and observed by the National Body of the Association represented by Mrs Serah James Leigo who served as the observer and returning officer, witnessed a large turn out of members who thronged out actively to elect their new executive. Consequently, Mr. Leonard Unekwu Haruna, a Principal Assistant Registrar, emerged as the duly elected Chairman of the Association. He was inaugurated along with other Exco members following the successful end of tenure of the immediate past executive.

Other members duly elected into the various offices and sworn immediately were: Mrs. Hawawu Muhammed, Vice Chairperson; Mr. Mua'azu Anuhi Zubairu, Secretary; Mrs. Afuribe Joy Nwachukwu, Assistant Secretary; Barr. Hyelni Bwala-John, Treasurer; Mr. Anthony Audu, Financial Secretary; Mr. Emmanuel Eneojo, Training Officer; Barr. Joseph Bala, Legal Adviser; and Mrs. Nanfe Bigun, Public Relations Officer. The new executive also has Mr. Ayuba Adinoyi Yahaya and Mr. Vincent Ifedayo Ojo, former ANUPA Chairmen, as Ex-officio 1 and Ex-officio 2 respectively.
