Members of staff of the Human Resource (HR) Division, Federal University Lokoja on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, came together to unwind during their end-of-year get-together. The event, attended by the Registrar, Dr. Rebecca Aimiohu Okojie, and some Deputy Registrars, provided a platform for members of the Division to rub minds together, discuss some of their challenges, and chart the way forward towards a better service delivery.

In his remarks, the Deputy Registrar, DR (Human Resource), Mr. Vincent Ojo Ifedayo, commended the staff of the Division for their commitment and dedication to duty in spite of the challenges. He underscored the importance of the end-of-the-year get-together, saying "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."

While thanking the University Management, particularly the Registrar for her immense support to the Division and guidance towards ensuring a better performance, the Deputy Registrar used the occasion to also highlight some of their challenges and requests, including lack of adequate working tools/materials, staff welfare, and personnel development.

Responding, the Registrar, who described HR as the engine room of the university administration, acknowledged the roles and contributions of each member of the Division. Recognizing that there is no perfect working environment, Dr. Okojie, however, reiterated the need for improvement in their service delivery as well as minimizing administrative bottlenecks and adhering to work ethics and professionalism.

Addressing some of the challenges and demands presented by the DR HR, the Registrar promised to look into them, assuring that she would ensure that Management prioritize the Division when procuring more computers to ease their work, among other critical issues she promised to push forward towards addressing them.

While welcoming the idea of the get-together and describing it as a good innovation, the chief administrative officer and secretary to Council, instituted the Registrar's Award/Prize for the best staff of the Division beginning from the next edition which she said would be conducted through a discreet and transparent appraisal/selection process, adding that a happy staff is a productive staff. She urged the staff to be open-minded and always ready to learn new things in the forthcoming year as they reflect on the previous months' performance. See more pictures here
