Fabian Apeh Akpah

Dr. Fabian Apeh Akpah is a Senior lecturer with Federal University Lokoja. A hydrogeologist, environmental geologist and corporate member of both Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS), Nigerian Association of Hydrogeologist (NAH) as well as a registered Geoscientist with Council of Nigerian Mining Engineers and Geoscientists (COMEG).
Fabian started his early academic life in 1975 at St Joseph’s primary school Vom, In Plateau State. After his first school leaving certificate in 1981, he went to St. Josephs college, Vom for his secondary education. He graduated from University of Port-Harcourt in 1995 with a first degree in Chemical Engineering. He attended professional training in drilling. He was trained by Baker Hughes Nigeria limited (a drilling company) as drilling fluids Engineer in 1997. He was later trained as an oil and gas engineer by Robert Gordon university, Aberdeen, in collaboration with shell petroleum Nigeria limited and the joint venture partners. Equipped with geological knowledge acquired from the two, professional trainings, Fabian went to university of Nigeria, Nsukka from 2006 – 2008 for a master’s degree in Geology specializing in hydrogeology followed by a PhD in 2014.
In the year 2000, Dr. Fabian A, Akpah joined the services of Kogi State University Anyigba as a pioneer lecturer in Geology. While in Kogi State University, from 2000- 2017, he worked in the department of Earth Sciences as a lecturer as well as taking several administrative responsibilities. At different times, he served as a member of governing council of the university representing the university congregation. His meritorious performance as a member of the council of KSU was recognized and acknowledged by the University visitation panel, the University management and the government of Kogi State. Dr. Fabian Apeh Akpah has served as department of earth sciences post graduate studies coordinator, departmental examination officer, member faculty of natural science journal committee, member 100 level students certificate verification committee. Fabian joined the services of Federal University Lokoja in 2019. As well as teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students project, Fabian is presently the representative of the faculty of sciences to the Directorate of Quality Assurance and Enhancement. He is also the chairman of geology department committee on Quality Assurance and Enhancement. He is a member of geology department committee on innovations, grants and awards.
Born in Illorin, Kwara State in 1970, Fabian is a Nigerian from Awo-Akpali in Ankpa local government area of Kogi State. He is married with children. Fabian is the founder and chairman of Ankpa Decides Association, a non-political and non-governmental community development association with members spread across Nigeria including US, Europe and Australia.
