Peace Onas Somdare
Lecturer 2
Peace Onas Somdare is a lecturer II in the Department of Zoology. She holds a Master of Fisheries Biology from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, and a Bachelor of Technology (Hons) in Zoology from the Federal University of Technology Yola, Nigeria. She has carried out research in aquatic toxicology, particularly the effects of various agrochemical pollutants on fish health, as well as the study of parasites of fish.
She is currently carrying out her doctoral research in Aquatic Animal Nutrition at the University of Science Malaysia (USM). Her research is focussed on the development of sustainable aquaculture feed using locally available raw materials.
She has a strong research focus and experience in the fields of aquatic animal nutrition, artificial breeding in fish using the African catfish, fish farm management, fish physiology, culture of freshwater prawns and lobsters.
