I have a bachelor of science (BSc) degree in Chemistry from Obafemi Awolowo University. Ile-Ife, Nigeria and postgraduate diploma in education (PGDE).My postgraduate (MSc and PhD) degrees in Chemistry were obtained from University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria withthesis and dissertation in Inorganic Chemistry.Afterward, I proceeded toNanomaterial Laboratory, Department of Applied Chemistry, University of Johannesburg, South Africa for asix-monthpostdoctoral benchwork.
Earlier after my first degree I worked for more than five years as an analyst and then as quality control manager at a pharmaceutical industry before I began my academic career at Kwara State University, Malete, between 2014 and 2015 as Lecturer II and the departmental examination officer.I joined Federal University Lokoja, Lokoja, Nigeria in 2015 and my present position is Lecturer I. I haveteaching experience cutting across Inorganic and Physical Chemistry courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I have supervised several undergraduate projects and served as examination officer in the Chemistry Department and level coordinator for some years.
My research activities involve but not limited to synthesis and characterization of drug-metal complexes, metalloporphyrins, porphyrin-quantum-dots conjugates in photodynamic therapy for cancer treatment, Schiff bases and mixed-ligand coordination compounds using conventional and green methods of synthesesfor antimicrobial studies. I have some publications in the areas of coordination chemistry, porphyrin chemistry, and porphyrin-quantum-dots. In the course of my laboratory work I have the knowledge of using several instruments including UV-Visible Spectrophotometers, Fluorophotometer (for photoluminescence measurements), Powder X-ray Diffractometer, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FTIR), Magnetic Susceptibility Balance and techniques such as elemental analysis, Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Single Crystal X-ray Diffraction. I have participated and presented papers at several conferences organized by our professional body, Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) as a member, and some universities in Nigeria.
I am married with three childrenand have strong interest in teaching, singing, and reading.
