Department of Linguistics & African Languages Presents Maiden Journal to VC

The Department of Linguistics and African Languages, Federal University Lokoja, one of the new Departments established by the Ọláyẹmí Akínwùmí-led Administration upon assumption of office in 2021, presented its maiden Journal "Language Review: International Journal of Linguistics" to the Vice-Chancellor during a 'Thank you' visit at his office.

While thanking the Vice-Chancellor for his fatherly love and care for the nascent but promising Department, the Coordinator of the Department, Dr Tósìn Ọlágúnjú pleaded with the VC to look into the issue of staffing for the fledgling Department.

During the courtesy visit also, Dr Ọlágúnjú delivered the message of the Olú of Àpàtà Land, Ọba Frederick O. Balogun to the Vice-Chancellor. The monarch had asked the Department to present two (2) photo frames bearing Prof. Akínwùmí's picture to the VC after its courtesy visit to the traditional ruler recently.

The royal father, who had accepted to be the Royal Father in the forthcoming Conference of Linguistic Association of Nigeria coming up in October in Federal University Lokoja, had pledged his support in all ways for the administration of Professor Akínwùmí.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi thanked the Department for the visit as well as the presentation of the frames and the Departmental Journal. He promised to see to the request of the Department on staffing as soon as possible. The Coordinator was accompanied by Dr Umar Yakubu, Dr Simeon Olaogun, Dr Agnes Legbeti, Mrs Adamma Nnamele, and Mr Noel Suberu. See more pictures here
