The Management of Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has unveiled its plan to establish a Doctor of Pharmacy Program and is prepared to admit the inaugural cohort of students in 2024, contingent upon a successful Resource Assessment by the National Universities Commission (NUC) scheduled for February next year.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi made the announcement during the curriculum presentation jointly submitted by Professors Ehinmidu O. Joseph from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and Momoh Mumini Audu from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

The team, led by the Director of Academic Planning, Professor Hadi Ahmed Suberu, presented the finalized document to the VC along with some members of Management, providing a crucial guide for the University Management in ensuring a successful launch of the new program at FUL.

In his comments, Professor Akinwumi expressed his satisfaction with the timely completion and delivery of the document. He extended his gratitude to Professor Joseph, the lead consultant and esteemed academic, for agreeing to return to his home state to facilitate the process.

The VC reaffirmed his commitment to implementing the global 60:40 Science-Humanities ratio admission policy, with a focus on prioritizing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programs in the University. He emphasized the significance of introducing additional science programs, citing their substantial contribution to the Institution's recent improvements in rankings.

While expressing his determination to commence the program despite financial constraints, Professor Akinwumi assured that he would mobilize support from eminent figures and seek resources to achieve the set objective. He subsequently directed the Director of Physical Planning to promptly provide the necessary architectural drawings for the proposed building that will house the new program. See more pictures here
