FUL VC Visits Tuyil Pharmaceutical Industry Ltd, Seeks Assistance for Proposed Faculty of Pharmacy

Earlier today, the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, visited the Chairman of Tuyil Pharmaceutical Industry Ltd to seek assistance and collaboration for the establishment of the Faculty of Pharmacy in the University. Tuyil Pharmaceutical Industry Ltd, located in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, is a foremost industry in the pharmaceutical business in Nigeria. 

During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor secured the full support of the Management of the pharmaceutical industry, backed by a promissory note showing their commitment to the realization of the objective.

Recall that the Vice-Chancellor had disclosed the University Management's plan and readiness to introduce the Doctor of Pharmacy as one of the new programmes to be offered by the twelve-year-old Institution beginning next year (2024).

Professor Akinwumi restated his commitment to establishing the programme when he received the Curriculum for the proposed Doctor of Pharmacy recently at his office. The vital document was jointly submitted by the lead consultants, Professor Ehinmidu O. Joseph from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and Professor Momoh Mumini Audu from University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), along with the Director of Academic Planning, Professor Hadi Ahmed Suberu.

At the presentation, the VC expressed determination to commence the programme despite dwindling financial resources and lack of funding by the Government, stressing that he would go all out to source for funds from well-meaning individuals and organizations to kickstart the new programme.

He also disclosed that the Resource Assessment exercise for the proposed programme has been scheduled to be conducted by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in February next year. See more pictures here
