We extend our warmest congratulations to Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke, Ph.D. on his conferment of the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) which was conferred on him by the Chancellor, HRH Alhaji (Dr.) Muhammadu Abali Ibn Muhammadu Idris (CFR), the Emir of Fika and Chairman, Yobe State Council of Chiefs and Emirs, following the approval of Senate, during the 6th and 7th Combined Convocation Ceremony held on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

The University Management ably led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi commends your exemplary community service and contributions to human capital development in Nigeria. Your philanthropic gestures and humanitarian services through your Charity Foundation have indeed brought hope and succour to the masses.

Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke is a man of uncommon intellectual prowess who made his mark in terms of community service and human capital development. He is a personification of philanthropy, a scholar with an uncommon vision for humanity, and a respectable family man. For example, in 2015, he incorporated the Maigida Charity Foundation in Keffi, Nasarawa State, with the goal of promoting good health care and nutrition, quality education for the youths, alleviating poverty in the society, and facilitating economic empowerment of youths and widows. The Foundation has demonstrated this by continuously sponsoring and offsetting the hospital bills of scores of indigent Nigerians.

Additionally, the foundation successfully constructed and equipped a 30-bed space maternity ward at the Oyo State General Hospital in Ogbomosho which has been dedicated and commissioned by the late Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi. This is in addition to the construction and equipping of a multi-million naira model state hospital in Oko Oyo state which is yet to be commissioned, and the annual free eye screening and glasses donations being sponsored every December in memory of Dr Adegoke's late mother which has continued from 2015 till date. Exceptional cases requiring surgeries for cataracts and glaucoma are promptly referred to and sponsored by the Maigida Charity Foundation.

From 2017 till date, Dr Adegoke's Maigida Charity Foundation has also spread its welfarist and masses-oriented ideology to tertiary education. For example, in 2017, the Foundation funded the construction of the administrative block of the botanical gardens in addition to financing the botanical ornament garden at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology LAUTECH in Ogbomoso. The foundation has continued to finance the maintenance of the garden to date. Also, in 2019, through his foundation, Dr Adegoke donated a 100kva generator to the Faculty of Arts, Nasarawa State University due to the epileptic supply of electricity to the Faculty. He was to later construct and donate a fully equipped e-library to the Postgraduate School of the same University. The library was dedicated and commissioned by the then Nasarawa state Governor, Alhaji Umar Tanko Almakura.

Tertiary education and advancement for Nigerian youths received perhaps the greatest attention from Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke and his Foundation as full scholarships were granted and are still being granted to scores of qualified students to study in any area of their choice both in Nigeria and abroad. It is on record that the Maigida Charity Foundation since 2017 has given hundreds of indigent students full scholarships to study in LAUTECH, Nasarawa State University, Bowen University, Ajayi Crowther University, and universities abroad including Coventry University, University of Northampton, University of West of England, Birmingham City University, among others.

Part of Dr Adegoke’s humanitarian services include donating, through his foundation, ten transformers to the communities in Nasarawa State to to make up for the inadequate power supply in the state. In Ogbomoso, Oyo State, his Maigida Charity Foundation has constructed more than forty-two boreholes and commissioned more than twenty-eight with generators backup at each location, while providing monthly funding for fueling the generators. The remaining boreholes are to be commissioned before the end of the year 2023.

Additionally, in 2018, the foundation solely funded the entire renovation of the Ogbomoso Recreation Club and donated modern-day furnishings to all sections of the club including a 100kva generator. This is in addition to the foundation’s initiatives in youth and widow empowerment, the establishment of a Bank of Agriculture to support farmers, donation of money to religious organizations, etc.
