Department of Biology
Courses that train students to appreciate life and the structure of living things are mounted in the Department of Biological Sciences of Federal University Lokoja; as it is obtainable in any other conventional University. Biology, Botany, and Zoology are adequately taught, each as a body of knowledge and/or application of the knowledge for enhancement of man’s economy and survival. The Department has qualified and experienced lecturers employed for the job delivery. Our students are given broad-based training during the first two years in the Department. Students in good standing, by the third year, specialize into the three degree awarding programmes of B.Sc Biology, B.Sc Botany, and B.Sc Zoology. The undergraduate programmes are undertaken through course work, seminars, field trips, semester examinations, research and any other modes as may be prescribed by National University Commission.

Indeed, through the undergraduate programmes, FUL hopes to identify with the socio-economic and technological dynamics of the Nigerian society. Therefore, as much as possible, the curricula of the undergraduate programmes are synchronised to reflect appropriately the general developmental objectives of Nigeria. The programmes are designed in such a way that our graduates shall either be capable of self-employment or be relevant to technological and industrial establishments.
