FUL Staff Re-Elected Chairman, Nigeria Computer Society, as National President Charges Kogi State Chapter on Ethical Standards, Professionalism at Exco’s Inauguration

A member of staff of Federal University Lokoja (FUL) from the Directorate of ICT, C.itp Godwin Sani, has been re-elected as Chairman, Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Kogi State Chapter. He was re-elected on Saturday, 27th December 2025, and sworn in along with other Exco members on Friday, 2nd January 2026 by the National Executive Council (NEC).

Other members of the 8th Executive Council of the NCS Kogi State, duly elected into the various positions and sworn-in included: Abdulkarim Musa Onuja (Vice Chairman), Momohjimoh Tijani (Secretary), Adebayo Moses O. (Financial Secretary), Chris Yahaya (Publicity Secretary), and William Adah (Treasurer).

The State Council also has Funso Bukola Omolara (Welfare Officer), Samuel Sunday Eneji (Assistant Secretary), Dr. Victoria I. Yemi-Peters (Chairman, Education and Manpower Development), and Famous Emeka Onyema (Chairman, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development).

Speaking during the inauguration, which was held virtually on Zoom, the National President of the NCS, Prof. Muhammad Sirajo Aliyu, FNCS, charged the newly elected State Executive to uphold ethical standards and professionalism in their conduct as they pilot the affairs of the local chapter of the professional body.

Prof. Aliyu congratulated the new Exco for the opportunity given to them to serve, and wished them a very successful tenure. He challenged them to put in their best to justify the confidence reposed in them, adding that expectations are high, particularly in positioning the Kogi State Chapter to maximize its full potential and increase impact. He assured the Exco of the National Executive Council’s support and open doors at all times.

Earlier in his opening remarks before administering the oath, the Deputy National President, Dr. Charles Chijioke Onyeukwu, FNCS, commended the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Dr. Oluwakemi Ayodele, FNCS, for a job well done, and thanked the new exco for accepting to serve. He also charged them to be good ambassadors of NCS, see their appointments as a call to national service, and work together as a team to make NCS Kogi State not just a reference point, but also one of the most recognized and vibrant state chapters in Nigeria.

Underscoring the founding principles guiding NCS as an umbrella and premier body of all computing and information technology professionals, interest groups, and stakeholders in Nigeria, the Deputy President urged the exco to familiarize themselves with the NCS constitution, chapter by-law, and code of ethics and professional conduct, to be properly guided in discharging their responsibilities. He harped on the need for members to follow the protocol and chain of communication laid down by the Society for optimum results.

In his acceptance speech, the Chairman, C.itp Godwin Sani, who was earlier elected and sworn in in November 2023, thanked the national leadership, the electoral committee, and members of NCS Kogi State for their confidence in him. He called on members to join hands and work together with him and his team in shaping a brighter future for the Chapter, where technology is utilized as a tool for empowerment, innovation, and sustainable development.

The Chairman further stated that to achieve his clear-cut vision of repositioning NCS Kogi State Chapter for professional relevance and societal impact, his administration would focus on some key areas, including capacity building, industry–academia collaboration, digital inclusion, strategic partnership, professional standards and ethics, and aggressive membership drive and engagement.

While acknowledging the efforts of past leaders for laying a strong foundation, and senior members for their guidance and support during his first tenure, Mr. Sani reiterated his commitment to providing enabling platforms for innovators, particularly students and young professionals, where their ideas can grow into solutions that can solve real-life problems as future leaders.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman, Conferences Committee, Mr. Bayo Mohammed Onimode, FNCS; the Zonal Coordinator (North Central), Dr. Oyeyinka Dantala Oyerinde; and the National Executive Secretary, Mr. 'Segun Job Adekunle FNCS, in their separate goodwill messages, congratulated the newly sworn-in executive and expressed confidence in their capacity to move the State Chapter forward. The NEC members equally commended the electoral committee and members of the State Chapter for their maturity and professional conduct during the recent election.

In her remarks, the President of the Nigerian Women In Information Technology (NIWIIT), Dr. Oluwakemi Ayodele, FNCS, who is the Immediate Past Chairman and Chairman of the Electoral Committee, thanked the national leadership for their continued support to the State Chapter. She joined other speakers to congratulate the new Exco on their emergence, while commending them for their willingness to serve at the State level. Pledging her unalloyed support, Dr. Ayodele charged members of the Exco to imbibe integrity, transparency, inclusiveness, and innovation, building on the existing structure and ensuring youth engagement and mentorship. She wished them a productive and impactful tenure.

The inauguration marks a significant turning point in the history of NCS Kogi State, as the re-elected Chairman and members of the 8th Executive Council have reaffirmed their commitment to repositioning the local chapter through strategic partnerships with governments, institutions, and industries to ensure technology-driven development of Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
