The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi has, on behalf of the Senate, Management, Staff and Students of the Federal University Lokoja, congratulated Emeritus Professor Olugbemiro Jegede on his appointment as the Chancellor of Littoral University, Porto-Novo, Republic of Benin.

The Vice-Chancellor who was visibly elated upon receiving the news of this well-deserved appointment, could not contain his joy and joined the admirers of the erudite and distinguished academic to celebrate his appointment. Professor Akinwumi noted that the Emeritus Professor is a global icon whose career over the years has greatly contributed to knowledge and impacted Nigeria's tertiary education.

He described Emeritus Prof Jegede as a paragon, who has left indelible footprints on the sands of time and whose immense contributions to eduction, governance and human development have earned him global recognition and relevance.

Additionally, the VC expressed sincere appreciation to the Founder/Director of Littoral University, Prof Oyebode Ayeni, and the Management of the University for the honour done to one of Nigeria's finest academic; and wished Emeritus Professor Jegede the very best as he assumes his new role. 

Professor Akinwumi believes very strongly that the Emeritus Professor will replicate his record of achievements in Littoral University to make it one of the best universities in Africa.
