Senator Chris Iheanyichukwu Adighije PhD was born on the 22^nd March, 1945 in Abia State. He bagged Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Degree from the prestigious University of Ibadan (UI) in 1973 with a Second Class Upper Division in Geology. Obtained MPhil and PhD from the same University in 1976 and 1978 respectively, and did his Course Work in Geophysics from the University of Birmingham, England in 1978.

He served as Chairman, Federal Psychiatric Hospital, Calabar, Cross River State (2002-2003); Chairman, Federal Medical Centre Umuahia, Abia State (2000-2002); Chairman, Abia State Water Board (1992-1994); Managing Director/Chairman, CINAB Engineering & Geological Services Ltd – a company that has grown from a small-scale indigenous water engineering company into a large venture with annual turnover exceeding billions of Naira (1985-till date); Technical Director, CANAC Nigeria Ltd – a Water Engineering Company (1983-1985);  Geologist/Geophysicist, Gulf Oil Company Nigeria - Now Chevron Texaco (1980-1983); Lecturer, University of Ibadan (1975-1980); Service Engineer, Baroid Nigeria Ltd (1974-1975); and Administration Officer, Population Census Board (1973-1974).

Politically, Senator Adighije served as Federal Commissioner (Abia State) at the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) Headquarters in Abuja (2010-2015); elected Senator (PDP), Abia Central Senatorial District (2003-2007); served as National Treasurer, National Republican Convention NRC (1990-1992); and Secretary, Nigerian National Congress NNC (1988-1989).

Senator Chris Adighije is a Member of some notable professional bodies, among which are: Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (Fellow), Society of Exploration Geophysicist, European Association of Exploration Geophysicist, and Geological Society of Africa.

He was appointed Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Federal University Lokoja in July, 2020 by the Federal Government of Nigeria under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR who is the Visitor to the University.
