Department of Computer Science
The Department of Computer Science is one of the pioneer departments of the Institution approved for take-off in the 2012/2013 Academic Session with the admission of forty-two (42) students; nine (9) Academic Staff and one (1) non-academic staff, with Professor Sunday Eric Adewumi as its pioneer Head of Department. During the same academic year (2012/2013), three (3) additional non-teaching staff joined the Department bringing the total members of staff to 13; made up of nine (9) academic and four (4) non-teaching staff
During the 2013/2014 academic session, 36 students were admitted into the 100 level of the Department.

Mission Statement
To produce graduates that are able to develop and deploy cutting-edge applications geared towards solving societal challenges.
Vision
To be the most outstanding Computer Science department among the nine newly established Federal Universities in Nigeria in 2011 and one of the top ranking academic programme department in Africa.
Philosophy
The programme, by way of providing students with a broad and balanced foundation of Computer Science knowledge and skills, aims at producing Computer Science graduates that have the ability to apply knowledge and skills for solving theoretical and practical problems in Computer Science and the development of relevant ICT for national development. They are also expected to acquire knowledge and skills to undertake further studies in Computer Science and multi-disciplinary areas, related to Computer Science. They should be able to acquire a range of applicable skills of information technology to various aspects of human endeavours. They should be able to demonstrate general skills relating to non-subject specific competencies, ICT capacity, communication, interpersonal and organization skills.
