FUL Management Holds Familiarization Meeting with New Governing Council Amidst High Expectations

The Management of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has convened a familiarization meeting with the newly inaugurated Governing Council of the University ably chaired by Distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, the Pro-Chancellor. Hosted in Abuja recently, the event marked a significant milestone, underscoring a collective commitment to the University's growth trajectory.

Led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, the University Management warmly received the new Council members, setting an optimistic tone for the session. Professor Akinwumi, in his address, highlighted the institution's esteemed traditions and strategic priorities aimed at advancing educational excellence and sustainable development.

During the familiarization meeting also, Professor Akinwumi commended the diverse composition of the 4th Governing Council, expressing confidence in Senator Ndoma-Egba's leadership to steer the University to new heights. 

Responding, Senator Ndoma-Egba articulated Council's preparedness and determination to upholding the highest academic standard while fostering growth and nurturing strategic partnerships within and outside the University. 

The Chairman's remarks demonstrate a vision of lasting legacy through collaborative efforts and innovative practices that will characterize the incoming Governing Council. The meeting featured the formal presentation of signature souvenirs, symbolizing council members' induction into the University community.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Maman, while inaugurating the new Governing Councils of Federal Universities and Boards of Federal Polytechnics and Colleges of Education at the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abuja on July 4, 2024, emphasized the pivotal role of councils in driving institutional innovation and sustainable development. 

He therefore urged council members across federal institutions to prioritize financial sustainability and ensure peaceful and stable academic environments. See more pictures here
