FUL VC Receives 120 Desktop Computers, Other Donations from Canadian Friends

On Wednesday, 4th September 2024, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi along with other management staff of Federal University Lokoja (FUL), received about 120 desktop computers, flat screen monitors, books, and other computer accessories from Changing Rural World e.V. Inc. Manitoba in Canada.

The certificate of donation containing the list of items which was forwarded to the Vice-Chancellor and signed by the Project Coordinator, Dr. Uche M. Nwankwo, noted that the items were free and voluntary donations from the Canadian charity organization to the University - FUL.

"These items are academic resource materials, which are computers and accessories, for humanitarian purposes meant to improve academic service delivery, student experiences, and human capital 

development at the Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State, and Nigeria.

"This current academic resource material donation is a follow-up to the previous donation of a 40ft high-density container of medical supplies to assist the accreditation of the university’s medical school and over 400 volumes of university books in February 2024, " the letter read in part.

Recall that on the 10th of May this year, the University also took delivery of a shipment that contained a multi-million Naira medical supplies and books donated by Dr. Nwankwo, a friend of the Vice-Chancellor, in collaboration with International HOPE, Canada to support the College of Health Sciences in meeting some of its requirements ahead of the planned accreditation exercise of its medical programmes.

Receiving the items on Wednesday evening, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi expressed Management's appreciation to the donors for the kind gesture and continued support. While these donations are being made, there is also an ongoing collaborative plan for joint programs between the Federal University Lokoja and some universities in Canada.

It is worthy of note that since his assumption of office as the 3rd Vice-Chancellor of the thirteen-year-old Institution, Professor Akinwumi's administration has received tremendous support, donations, and goodwill of both private and public individuals/organizations in a bid to take the University to an enviable height.
