The Management of Federal University Lokoja ably led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Angela Freeman Miri has breathed a sigh of relief as the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) moves to end the active gully erosion that is currently threatening the Administrative Building at the Permanent Site of the University (Felele Campus).

As part of efforts to mitigate the adverse effects of soil and land degradation in targeted watershed for environmental sustainability in the country, officials of NEWMAP have engaged the Management of Federal University Lokoja in discussions with a view to finding lasting solution to the menace.

Recall that the Federal Ministry of Environment in collaboration with the World Bank and its partner agencies have designed the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) to address, on a multi-dimensional scale the menace of gully erosion in the South East as well as land degradation in the North, and Kogi is one of the twelve states that will benefit from the project.
