Members of Staff of the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS),
Federal University Lokoja on Monday, June 7, 2021 (today) celebrate the Dean of
the School, Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye as he clocks 55.
In what appeared to be a surprised birthday bash to celebrate the
erudite Professor of English, Staff of the PG School all gathered to usher the
Dean into his office early this morning with birthday songs/music, while the
saxophonist played skillfully in such a way that the celebrant could not resist
the urge to dance. Soon after, other Staff of the University and friends of the
celebrant from outside the University joined in the joyous occasion.
Professor Ibileye, who was overcome with emotion, expressed his
sincere appreciation to the Staff for the show of love and acceptance. The
eminent scholar noted that the surprised birthday orgranised in his honour was
a sign that he was accepted as the Dean, SPGS by the Staff, and promised to
ensure that the spirit of brotherliness as demonstrated by the Staff was
sustained. He also thanked the Staff for their support and cooperation since he
assumed office as the Dean of the PG School.
High point of the event was the cutting of birthday cake, toast and
presentation of books by one of the Staff. Prayers were equally offered by one
of the Deputy Deans of the School, Professor Tanko Dauda.
Recall that Professor Gbenga Ibileye was appointed Dean, School of
Postgraduate Studies and Head, Department of Theatre Arts, Federal University
Lokoja by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi in April, 2021.
Cheers to many more rewarding years of selfless service to humanity,
