The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Olayemi Akinwumi on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 received the National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Professor Emmanuel Osodeke during a courtesy visit to his office at the Felele Campus, Lokoja.
Professor Osodeke, who was warmly received along with leaders of FUL Chapter of the Union headed by Dr. Silas Joshua, expressed confidence in the purposeful leadership direction of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi.
He added that with the Vice-Chancellor’s union-friendly disposition, exemplary leadership qualities and laudable achievements within his few months in office, industrial harmony would thrive in the University.
In his remarks, Professor Akinwumi recounted the various efforts and sacrifices he made upon assumption of office towards ensuring industrial harmony and reuniting factions within the Union which have yielded positive results in restoring peace in FUL.
While thanking the National President for the visit, the Vice-Chancellor equally commended the leadership of ASUU in its sustained fight for the educational system in Nigeria.
The meeting also afforded the university Dons the opportunity of discussing some of the challenges facing Nigerian Universities and the way forward.
With the Vice-Chancellor in receiving the ASUU National President were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor M. S. Audu, the Registrar, Mr. Usman Suleman Obansa, and the Busar, Mr. Sule John Shilo.
