On Monday, 26th September, 2022 at the College of Health Sciences, Adankolo Campus, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi joined the Management and Staff of FULokoja International College to welcome its first set of students who were newly admitted, following the resumption of schools across Kogi State from the long vacation.
The Vice-Chancellor, who was highly elated for his dream come true as the Secondary School officially commenced academic activities for the new session, also interacted with the students who were in high spirits ready to pursue all-round academic excellence in the College. Professor Akinwumi promised the University Management's full commitment and support in ensuring that the College stands out distinctively among its peers in terms of quality and standard.
In a related development, the Chairman of the College Governing Board and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor M.S. Audu has assured that the highest quality and standard would be upheld in the operation of the College in line with the Vice-Chancellor's vision of making it one of the best in Kogi State and Nigeria.
The Chairman gave the assurance during the Board's meeting held earlier to put the finishing touches to its arrangements towards ensuring a smooth take-off and resumption of academic activities in the new College. Interestingly, the meeting followed the successful conduct of entrance examinations for over 300 candidates who applied for admission into the College (J.S.S 1-3) on Friday, 16th September, 2022.
While assuring that quality and standard would be maintained in the operations and management of the College, Professor Audu charged members of the Board, which consist of eminent academics/professors and administrators with proven track records, to work in synergy and bring their wealth of experiences to bear on the all-important responsibility.
He enjoined them to maintain a high level of integrity which informed their appointments as members of the Board, and make useful contributions by coming up with workable policy guidelines that reflect Management's vision and expectation in order to lay a solid foundation for the Secondary School.
The renowned Professor who had previously chaired a committee that designed the blueprint for the establishment of the University's Staff School (Nursery/Primary), also urged residents of the host communities to take advantage of the unique opportunity provided by the College, such as its strategic location, conducive and secure learning environment with modern sporting facilities, well-equipped laboratories, state-of-the-art teaching facilities, quality teachers, affordable fees, among others, to enroll their children/wards while promising excellent service delivery.
