FUL Announces Resumption of Academic Activities as ASUU Suspends 8-month-old Strike

The Management of Federal University Lokoja has announced the resumption of academic activities with effect from Monday, 17th October 2022 following the suspension of the eight-month-old strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Friday, 14th October 2022.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, who expressed excitement over the cheering news, looks forward to welcoming the students, members of ASUU and indeed all the committed staff members of the university back on campus.

He has advised that students and all concerned comply with the resumption directive without delay as academic activities would be accelerated to make up for lost ground.

Professor Akinwumi is hopeful that going forward, the government would adopt better strategies and other proactive measures in addressing the challenges in the university system.

Earlier, the Chairman of ASUU, Federal University Lokoja Branch, Dr Silas Joshua, confirmed the news of ASUU'S suspension of the strike. According to him, "we have transmitted a letter to officially inform the management of our resumption and readiness to continue to give our best to the University".
