The World Health Organization (WHO) has promised to support the Management of Federal University Lokoja (FUL) under the amiable leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi in its efforts at repositioning the University Health Services (UHS) for better service delivery to FUL and the host communities, and also, to further consolidate on the modest achievements recorded so far in revamping the health services by the Administration.

The assurance was given when the Director of the University Health Services, Dr. Chinenye Otorkpa led members of her team on a courtesy visit to the Kogi State Coordinator of the international health agency, Dr. Sebastian Okwu, who warmly received and had fruitful deliberation with them.

During the courtesy visit, Dr. Otorkpa introduced Federal University Lokoja to the WHO State Coordinator and informed him of some of the activities of the Directorate and services provided by the Health Center. In his reaction, Dr. Okwu promised to collaborate with FUL in terms of providing aid and technical support for the UHS programmes.

In addition, the WHO boss assured the team of the provision of relief items for students displaced by the ravaging flood, and to recommend more inclusion of the University Health Services in the activities of the State Ministry of Health, including immunization programmes and its Universal Health Coverage (UHC) activities, amongst other partnership that would greatly benefit the University.
