A former student of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Beanard Ajewole has been appointed as a Member of the National Steering Committee for the “Vote Not Fight” Campaign Movement ahead of the 2023 General Elections.
Mr. Ajewole, a graduate of Political Science who is currently running his Master’s degree in the same Institution, was the pioneer Director of Social, Students’ Union and pioneer Vice President, FUL Alumni Association.
The Vote-Not-Fight (VNF) Campaign is a youth-focused, non-profit and non-partisan campaign organisation that seeks to increase the participation of youth in Nigeria’s political and electoral processes by promoting peaceful and constructive youth engagement with their peers, statesmen, political stakeholders, the electoral umpire, security agencies, and the media before, during, and after elections.
VNF Campaign is implemented by the 2Baba Foundation whose President is the popular African music icon, Innocent Idibia (aka 2Baba), who birthed the organization out of his desire to use his influence and popularity to impact humanity positively. The 2Baba Foundation focuses on peacebuilding, care for victims of violence and conflicts, promotion of good governance, and active citizens’ participation in political processes.
Interestingly, Beanard has earlier led the Vote-Not-Fight Election-No-Be-War Campaign that promoted peaceful elections in Kogi State during the off-circle election in 2019. Similarly, he has been on the strategy team for other campaigns and civil society engagements such as the Not-Too-Young-To-Run, Ready-To-Run, Kogi Youth Development Commission Bill which has been passed into Law, Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act, among others.
In his letter of appointment, the former Students’ Union leader and unionist was described as a strong ally who has the capacity of exerting a significant influence that would ensure that the organisation achieves its set goals.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi has continued to identify and encourage alumni of FUL who are making the University proud as worthy ambassadors and serving humanity in their various capacities.
Congratulations!
