ONE YEAR ON THE THRONE: FUL VC Congratulates Attah Igala, Charges Recipients of Chieftaincy Titles by HRM to Contribute More to Humanity

Exactly on this date, 365 days ago, all activities and rites leading to the ascension to the throne of the new Attah of Igala were concluded, and a king, His Royal Majesty Mathew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche Akpa, who represents the answer to the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Igala Kingdom, emerged victoriously.

One year later, the revered royal father gathered his subjects at his Palace in Idah to return praises to God and express appreciation to all those who have supported the Kingdom within the period.

The Attah of Igala equally penned down 21 names of illustrious sons of the State, who have rendered selfless services to the good people of Kogi State particularly the Igala Kingdom, to be conferred with various traditional titles.

Speaking at the auspicious occasion, the Attah (AGAABAIDU) noted that today, 17th November, 2022 marks one year of his ascension to the throne of his forefathers, while thanking God for His grace, compassion, and love in making the occasion a success.

Recounting the achievements recorded within the one year, HRM also expressed profound gratitude to the good people of his Kingdom, as well as the invited guests. 

In his remarks, he said: "this one year has come very quickly and we are greatly indebted to those who have shown love, massive support, and solidarity during the period. We also thank all those who pray for us consistently without ceasing."  

Highlighting the significance of the river Niger and its role in the life and history of the Igala Kingdom, the first-class chief added: "A little of our historical background is a good reminder at this point, that is the location of our Palace on the Niger River bank, confirms how ancient we are as a Kingdom."

Notable among those who received the Chieftaincy Titles at the historic event was Dr. Salisu Ogbo Usman, Rector Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja as "Omaoja' Ata Igala." 

In his congratulatory message, the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, who led a high-powered delegation from the University to grace the ceremony, felicitated with His Royal Majesty and prayed for long life and good health on the exalted throne. 

Similarly, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated Dr. Usman Ogbo who is a good friend of FUL on the great honour and traditional title conferred on him by the Attah, enjoining him and other distinguished personalities who received the chieftaincy titles to continue to give their best in selfless service to humanity.
