CSR: FUL VC, Prof. Akinwumi Storms Hometown with Medical Experts, Presents Gifts to 262 Widows

No fewer than 262 women and widows from Ekinrin Adde in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, the country home of Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja, received various gift items and free medical attention during the yuletide courtesy of the Vice-Chancellor's benevolence and made possible out of his love and desire to contribute to the socio-economic wellbeing of his people. 

As part of his community service and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the Vice-Chancellor stormed his hometown (Ekinrin Adde) with a team of medical experts from the University for a community visitation/medical outreach to attend to the aged women who were mostly widows in a unique way of celebrating Christmas and touching their lives through the medium of town/gown relationship.

The event which took place at CAC No. 1 in Ekinrin Adde was witnessed by the paramount ruler of the Kingdom, His Royal Highness Ọba Anthony Bamigbaiye Idowu, the Olu Adde of Ekinrin Adde Land who was filled with gratitude for the community outreach sponsored by the Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Akinwumi personally supervised the exercise and presented cash and various gifts to the beneficiaries, just as the medical team from the University was on the ground to attend to the medical needs of the women including free medical examinations, prescriptions, and treatments after diagnosis in addition to the free drugs distributed, among others.

The widows who were excited and could not hide their joy at the kind gesture thanked the Vice-Chancellor for coming to celebrate the festive season with them out of his busy schedules while praying for long life and God's protection for him and his supportive team. See more pictures here
