It is with a deep sense of responsibility and a heart full of gratitude, that I write on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff, and Students of the Federal University Lokoja to express our profound appreciation to the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, and Visitor, Federal University Lokoja, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, for the approval of the conversion and upgrade of Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Lokoja to Federal Teaching Hospital (FTH), Lokoja.

Your Excellency's kind and fatherly gesture for this upgrade will no doubt provide students of our young College of Health Sciences with the requisite medical facilities and qualified professionals for their training. The Teaching Hospital will also guarantee access to quality healthcare services by the good people of Kogi State and other members of the Nigerian public.

Your Excellency, Sir, you have personally put a seal of success on the lives of many Nigerians, particularly those from the North Central region, who constitute the immediate catchment area of the University and the general population of Nigerians.

There is no doubt that your presidential assent to the upgrade of the Federal Medical Center Lokoja to a Teaching Hospital has given the University greater visibility and confidence to produce a medical workforce that will be among the leading health professionals in Nigeria and the world in the nearest future as we continue to rise as a university of the future.

As one of your parting gifts to this great citadel of learning, this gesture will forever be remembered, sir.

Thank you, Your Excellency! Nagode Baban Buhari!

The Federal University Lokoja is grateful.

Signed:

Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi,

Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja.
