The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Olayemi Akinwumi has congratulated members of the University Community and the entire Muslim Ummah on this year's celebration of Eid-el Kabir, wishing them a happy and peaceful Sallah festival.
In a Sallah message to members of the FUL Community released by the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Daniel Nwankwo, Professor Akinwumi pointed out that the essence of Eid-el-Kabir is the manifestation of the holy veneration for Allah (SWT) by Prophet Ibrahim (ASW) and his son, Prophet Ismail (ASW).
According to the erudite Professor of African History, the true nature of the celebration necessitates earnest thoughts and sober reflection among the adherents of Islamic faith and, by extension, the generality of the people.
He stated that the festival, which extols the relevance of promise in Islam that promotes happiness and joy, also signifies faith, devotion, patience, obedience, and love. The Vice-Chancellor maintained that there is a need for believers to cultivate the fear of God since doing so would have a positive impact on our society and nation-building.
Prof. Akinwumi further advised Nigerians, particularly the Muslim faithful, to see the occasion as an opportunity to reawake their consciousness and deeds for kindness, love, and tolerance as exemplified by the Holy Prophet, while calling for sustained prayers for the nation as the new administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR gains momentum towards quality delivery of the dividends of democratic governance.
Barka Da Sallah!
