On July 24 and 25, 2023, the Federal University Lokoja (FUL) hosted a transformative two-day workshop led by three (3) eminent professors hailing from esteemed universities worldwide. The workshop centered on cutting-edge concepts in Research/Publication, Grant Writing, and Mentoring, targeting junior academics and senior non-teaching staff.
The distinguished trio of scholars, Professors Paul Ugor from the University of Waterloo in Canada, John Ayotunde Bewaji from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica, and Patrick Oloko from the University of Lagos, delivered a wealth of knowledge and value-added information during the event.
Their dynamic delivery and expertise left a profound impact on the academic foundation of Federal University Lokoja, broadening the horizons of young academics and leaving many in awe of the transformative connections forged.
The workshop commenced with an official opening by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Okayemi Akinwumi, who expressed immense joy at the University's successful endeavor in attracting these distinguished scholars from their respective foreign Institutions. He urged participants to seize the opportunity for personal and institutional growth.
Professor M.S. Audu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee introduced the esteemed guests and highlighted their impressive profiles, boasting years of excellent service in their respective fields. He assured the University community in attendance that the workshop promised to be impactful and encouraged them to leverage the value it offered to enhance their grant-winning skills and elevate the University's reputation.
Throughout the two-day event, the internationally acclaimed professors engaged in an executive session with members of the University's Senate and Management, and then a general session with the larger categories of staff who were invited for the workshop. Their profound insights centered on harnessing alumni resources for consistent growth and development at FUL.
As the workshop concluded, resounding testimonies of excellence emerged, as each renowned professor expertly dissected various areas of academic interest. Their guidance empowered the University academic community to scale up their endeavors in Research/Publication, Grant Writing, and Mentorship, solidifying the Institution's position in the academic spotlight.
