Lecturer 2
Dr. Tunde Ogbemi Etchie is an Environmental Chemist seeking to understand the hazardous chemical compositions of air, water and arable land, and their contributions to the current burden of disease in Africa and Asia. He holds Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees in Environmental Chemistry and Pollution Control from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria since March 2016 and July 2009, respectively. He is a Research Scholar of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) in Trieste, Italy, and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi, India. He was a Scholar of the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC), Nigeria.
Dr. Etchie is a Lecturer in the Department of Industrial Chemistry, Federal University, Lokoja. Before joining Federal University Lokoja, he worked as a Lecturer in Landmark University in Kwara State. He was also the Managing Director of Meteorology, Environment and Demographic Surveillance (MEDsurveillance) Ltd, Port Harcourt. Beyond Nigeria, he has worked as a Senior Research Officer and Head of Environmental Health Division, in the International Clinical Epidemiology Network (INCLEN) Trust in New Delhi, India. Therein, he supervised the execution of the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s (USEPA) Science to Achieve Result (STAR) Project on household and ambient air pollution exposures in Haryana, India. He was also an active Research Scholar in the Environmental Health Division of the CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) in Nagpur, India. Therein, he worked actively in the Government of India’s National Clean Air Mission (NCAM), a Project that assessed the health impact of hazardous air pollution exposures in Nagpur and Chennai.
Dr. Etchie holds active collaborations with researchers in several academic institutions, including: University of Cambridge, UK; University of California, Berkeley, USA; Georgia Institute of Technology Atlanta, USA; Institute of Nuclear Physics, Moscow State University, Russia; CSIR-NEERI Nagpur; and the INCLEN Trust International, New Delhi. He also has ground-breaking research publications in high-ranked international Journals such as Environment International, Environmental Pollution, Chemosphere, Water Research, Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety, and the Bulletin of the World Health Organization. He has been a guest speaker in several international academic events, and is currently serving as an outstanding/recognized reviewer for several top-ranked Elsevier Journals such as Environment International; Journal of Hazardous Materials; Environmental Research; Environmental Pollution; and Journal of Environmental Management.
