Inyokwe Sunday Otinche
Representative of Faculty of Management Sciences to Senate, Federal University Lokoja
Associate Professor
Sunday Inyokwe Otinche is an Associate Professor of Public Administration and Policy Analysis with research emphasis on Nation Building and Governance. Presently, he is a staff in the Department of Public Administration, Faculty of Management Sciences, Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria. Presently, he is a Research Supervisor to a Doctoral Student in Texila American University, Georgetown, Guyana, South America and a Visiting Lecturer to Pan African University Yaoundé, Cameroon.
He was born on 10h January 1972 at Ukwutia, Utugwang in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State. He attended St. Colman’s Primary school Utugwang and Primary School Boki Farm 1 respectively and got his First School Leaving Certificate in 1981 from the latter. He schooled at Bekwarra Secondary School Ogoja (now in Bekwarra LGA) between 1981 and 1986 and Federal School of Arts and Science, Ogoja in 1989 and thereafter enrolled in the Interim Joint Matriculation Board Examination programme in 1992. Afterward, he studied Political Science in the University of Jos and graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. Between 2002 and 2010, he had his Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degrees in Public Administration and Policy Analysis from University of Abuja respectively and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from National Open University of Nigeria in 2015.
In terms of administrative experience, he was the Head, Department of Public Administration, Examination Officer, Coordinator of the Diploma programme, Secretary IBBU Thrift and Cooperative Society, member of Committee on the Review of Conditions of Appointment and Promotion of Non-Academic Staff, Committee on Consultancy Programme and the Adhoc Committee on the Review of Pension Deductions, all in Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai. He was the Pioneer Editor-in-Chief of Lapai International Journal of Administration, a journal of the Department of Public Administration, and laid the policy foundation for the establishment of the Post Graduate Studies programme of the Department of Public Administration, IBB University. During his service years in Department of Public Administration, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University between 2010 and 2020, he won the Most Humble Lecturer of the Year Award (2015), Best Lecturer of the Year awards (2014) and Lecturer of the Year (2012) in his Department.
In Federal University Lokoja, he is the Representative of the Faculty of Management Sciences to the Senate, Faculty Representative to Research and Development Committee, Member Faculty Quality Assurance Committee, Representative of Department of Public Administration in the Quality Assurance Committee, Member Departmental Research and Development Committee and Chairman Curriculum Committee and Chairman Disciplinary Committee of the Department of Public Administration, Federal University Lokoja.
Between February 2018 and February 2020, he taught in University of The Gambia under the Technical Aids Corps Volunteer programme as Technical Assistance Lecturer and supervised postgraduate students therein. He facilitated the establishment of the Post Graduate Studies programme of the Department of Public Administration, School of Business and Public Administration, University of The Gambia and Coordinated the Post Graduate Studies programme within the period of his internship.
In 2017, he was appointed the Internal Examiner to the Department of Political Science, Post-Graduate Studies, IBB University.
In the April 2011 Presidential/General Election, he served as the INEC Collation Officer for WCO AMAC, Federal Capital Territory.
He has broad research experience that has produced two books: Roadmap for Nation Building in Nigeria and Pension Administration in Nigeria: Issues in Theory and Practice. He has also published articles in national and international journals and attended many national and international conferences. Furthermore, he is presently working on research projects for publication.
