Olayiwola Isaac Babarinsa

Senior Lecturer

Olayiwola Babarinsa, Ph.D., is a Senior Mathematics Lecturer at the University. Previously, he served as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Mathematics at Universiti Malaysia Kelantan. He earned his PhD from Universiti Sains Malaysia and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Open University of Nigeria. He completed his B.Sc. in Mathematics/Statistics and M.Sc. in Mathematics at the University of Lagos and also obtained a National Diploma from Yaba College of Technology. Additionally, he has several online course certifications from institutions such as Harvard, Davidson, UTAustin, and Berkeley University.

Dr. Babarinsa has experience in online teaching at the National Open University of Nigeria, Miva Open University, and Thomas Adewumi University, as well as in-person tutoring at Universiti Sains Malaysia and the University of London: International Program. He has supervised/co-supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students, which include B.Sc, PGD, PGDE, MSc, and PhD) from Universiti Sains Malaysia, National Open University of Nigeria, and Federal University Lokoja.

His research focuses on Graph Theory and its applications in areas like Matrix Theory, Statistics, Machine Learning, Scientific Computing, Operations Research, and Cryptography. He has an Erdős number of 3 and a Dijkstra number of 6, reflecting his collaboration in these fields. He has published an edited volume, six conference proceedings, ten books of abstracts, and over 25 peer-reviewed journal articles, both locally and internationally. He is proficient in computational tools such as MATLAB, Sage, and SPSS, and he serves as a reviewer for five academic journals.

Dr. Babarinsa is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the Mathematics Association of Nigeria, the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, the Nigerian Mathematical Society, the Institute for Operations Research of Nigeria, the Nigerian Institute of Industrial Statisticians, and the Nigerian Institute of Management. He has engaged in various volunteer activities, including Lecturers Without Borders and Universiti Sains Malaysia's Student Ambassador program. With extensive experience in local and international conferences, he received accolades such as Best Presenter at ICOAIMS 2017 and the Graduate on Time award for his PhD. He also creates educational mathematics videos on his YouTube channel to support students at colleges, polytechnics, and universities.
