Biography
Tajudeen Oladele AHMED started his academic career at the Department of Physics, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria in 2005 as Assistant Lecturer. He later joined the services of Federal University Lokoja (FUL) as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics on 2nd April, 2013 where he contributed respectably to executing crucial administrative duties in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science and the University, having served as the First Sitting Head of Department of Physics, Federal University Lokoja, Nigeria. In 2018, he was elected as one of the Congregation Representatives in the 2nd University’s Governing Council and served as a member of Council Staff Appeals Committee and Council Appointments and Promotions Committee respectively. He was a Visiting Assistant Professor and had previously served as a member of Advisory Committee on Postgraduate Research & Colloquium, African University of Science and Technology (AUST), FCT, Abuja, Nigeria.
Tajudeen Oladele Ahmed is currently a Professor of Solid State Physics and Materials Science and the current Head of Department of Physics, Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Nigeria. He was re-elected in 2020 as one of the Congregation Representatives in the 3rd University’s Governing Council and he is currently as a member of the Finance and General Purposes Committee, Appointments and Promotions Committee, Budget Monitoring Committee, Senior and Junior Staff Disciplinary Committee and Students Disciplinary Committee of the 3rd University’s Governing Council. He is also a member of the Senior Staff training and Development Committee and Sport Development Committee of the University. He is currently serving as a member of the Governing Council of the Science Association of Nigeria (SAN).
He has researched notably in the area of Solid State Physics and Materials Science and won the Ahmadu Bello University Board of Research Grant (ABU-UBRG) in 2006. He has published creditably in the areas of synthesis, structure and property characterization of nanomaterials, advanced functional materials and alternative energy materials in both local and international journals and presented research papers in several local and international conferences. He is also a reviewer and editorial board member of some local and international scientific journals. He has become efficient and effective in teaching and research in Solid state Physics and Materials Science at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. Prof. Ahmed is an active corporate/professional member of the following learned societies: Nigerian Institute of Physics (NIP), Materials Science and Technology Society of Nigeria (MSN), African Materials Research Society (AMRS), Science Association of Nigeria (SAN).
