Born on 28th July 1962 at
Imane in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria, Professor
Patrick Amidu Audu had his primary school education at St. Joseph’s Primary
School, Kaduna (1970 – 1976) and attended Rimi College (formerly St. John’s
College), Kaduna in the period from 1976 – 1981. He had his University
education at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he earned B.Sc. Zoology
(1986), M.Sc and Ph.D in Veterinary Parasitology in 1991 and 1999 respectively.
After serving in the National Youth Service scheme, he started his working
career as a lecturer in 1989 at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Professor
Audu was promoted Professor of Parasitology on October 2008 in the same
University.
He had acted several times as Head of
Departments, Dean of Faculty at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State
University, Kaduna, and Federal University Lokoja and has been a member of the
University Senate. He has participated in NUC Resources
Verification/accreditation exercises in Several Universities in Nigeria.
Professor
Audu is a member of several professional associations/societies some of them
are Nigerian Society for Parasitology and Public Health, Agricultural Society
of Nigeria, Zoological Society of Nigeria, Entomological Society of Nigeria.
Professor
Audu has the following distinctions and awards for outstanding performance:
Research Award for postdoctoral exposure/academic development in the USA,
Ahmadu Bello University/Mcarthur Foundation Grant; Award for integrity,
excellence and achievement in recognition of humanitarian services to Imane
people, Imane Development Union (IDU), Kaduna branch; Award of honour in
recognition of contributions towards service to God and humanity, United
Evangelical Church (Youth); Merit Award in recognition of immense contribution
to the growth of All Saints Igala Catholic Community of Nigeria (2017);
Certificate of Honour as Ukomu Igala Ambassador presented by Ukomu Igala
Organisation to illustrious Sons and Daughters of Igala Kingdom. Fellow of the
Zoological Society of Nigeria (2018), Award for Meritorious Service to Our Lady
Queen of Peace Parish, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (2020).
Professor
Audu was a Researcher on EEC-sponsored project on prevalence of Animal
trypanosomiasis in Nigeria (1988 – 1990). He has held several administrative
appointments/served as member and Chairman of Boards and Committees, and has
been an Acting Vice- Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja with effect from
Monday, 27th April, 2015 to Friday, 22nd of May, 2015.
Professor has travelled widely in
and outside Nigeria. He is committed to intellectual and moral excellence and
prudence in management of resources. He is a team oriented and a self-motivated
with proven leadership skills. Professor Patrick Amidu Audu is happily married to
his friend, Mrs. Vivien Eleojo Audu, and blessed with lovely children. He
enjoys reading, writing, analytical discussions, soccer, badminton and table
tennis.
