AYUA KUMA JOSHUA
AYUA Kuma Joshua is an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Physics, Federal University Lokoja. He completed a BSc in Geophysics at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun and holds an MSc in Applied Geophysics at the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife where he is currently pursuing a PhD in Applied Geophysics majoring in Earthquake Seismology.
Kuma teaches on the FUL undergraduate programme where he designs lecture contents and teaches students; advises students on both academic and personal issues as well as ensures that students’ examination, quiz and assignments are graded and the results published as and when due.
He also works in collaboration with colleagues in mineral and resource Exploration, Geostatistics and Earthquake monitoring. His research interests lie in mineral potential evaluation and application of data analytics in earthquake monitoring. A strong believer in applied research, he enjoys fine-tuning traditional models to solve modern issues and is always interested in interdisciplinary research.
Kuma also has a myriad of interests outside of academics. He plays table-tennis regularly and has a number of (unpublished) literary works. He volunteers as a high school physics tutor for inner city kids and is active in his local church. He is happily married and wouldn’t say no to a glass of kunu aya on a hot afternoon while working on the farm.
