Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command Visits FUL

The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Wilson Inalegwu has paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Angela Freeman Miri in her office at the Adankolo Campus of Federal University Lokoja on Tuesday, 20th June, 2017. The Commissioner embarked on the visit with his Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DCP Edward C. Egbuka to get first-hand information from the Vice-Chancellor on security challenges that affect the University Community.
The Vice-Chancellor, who warmly received the Commissioner of Police, expressed her unreserved appreciation to the State Command of the Nigeria Police Force for the unflinching support the University has received from them since its inception in 2011. This, she reiterated has no doubt, brought peace, harmony and cordial relationship among staff, students and the host community. Similarly, Professor Miri solicited for more support from the Police Force in order to sustain the peaceful atmosphere already established in the University.
In his remark, CP Wilson Inalegwu stated that some of the issues highlighted by the Vice-Chancellor would be addressed, maintaining that helplines would also be made available for rapid response to emergency cases. He said, the visit became necessary in order to re-assure the Management, staff and students of the University that the Kogi State Police Command is here to serve them while stressing that adequate security arrangements would be made when the University is ready to move to its Permanent Site in Felele. The Police Commissioner promised further consultations between the Police Public Relations Department and the University’s Public Relations Department in order to identify other security challenges facing the young University so as to synergize efforts toward promoting lasting peace and cordial relationship within the University community.
The Commissioner of Police also expressed satisfaction over the harmonious working relationship that exists among the Management, staff, students and the host community, particularly as there has not been any issue of industrial actions reported in the University since he assumed duty in Kogi State.
