Jubilation as VC Commissions New Bus for the Students

There was wide jubilation among the students of Federal University Lokoja as the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Angela F. Miri handed over a brand new YUTONG Bus to the Students’ Union. The official commissioning of the bus took place on Wednesday, 13th November, 2019 at the front of the University Auditorium.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the bus was procured through TETFund Zonal Intervention tagged “Students Dignity Projects” which included the construction of a fleet of toilets/conveniences. She noted that the construction of the toilets is ongoing at the University’s Permanent Site, Felele while the existing ones at the Adankolo Campus would be assessed and rehabilitated if necessary.

The Vice-Chancellor, who said that the welfare of students is paramount to her administration, reiterated her commitment to making sure that the environment is conducive for teaching, learning and research. Prof. Miri expressed appreciation to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for approving the projects for the University.

Although the bus is strictly for the students, it is to be kept and maintained by the Transport Unit and released only on the approval of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor when the students demand for it.

The two other vehicles commissioned at the event were Toyota Corolla and Peugeot 407 which were formerly abandoned but repaired by the Management in order to increase the number of vehicles in the pool. This development is among other imperceptible efforts the Management is making to ease transportation in the University.
