On this historic day about two (2) years ago, our amiable Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi took over the reins of leadership as the 3rd Substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL).

Professor Akinwumi, the first indigenous Chief Executive of the University was given a rousing welcome by staff, students, families, friends, kinsmen, and other well-wishers within and outside the University Community who trooped out in their numbers to usher in the new administration during the inauguration on 15th February, 2021.

Over these past two (2) years, the University under Professor Akinwumi’s visionary leadership has witnessed unprecedented growth and transformation in all facets. The Vice-Chancellor in his efforts has not only attracted remarkable development to FUL using his networks and influence, but has also opened up the twelve-year-old University to many great opportunities that will further stand the University out in a few years to come.

He has remained focused and consistent in his efforts of building a 21^st Century University that will rank among the top 10 in Nigeria and Africa, despite the daunting challenges. In less than one year of his purposeful administration, FUL fulfilled its vision statement and was ranked the best among the counterpart Federal Universities established in 2011. Notably, the Vice-Chancellor achieved 70 percent of his five-year vision plan in less than two years, among other giant strides and significant achievements the administration recorded in terms of academic growth and infrastructural development.

As you clock two years in office today, we pray God to continue to guide you toward fulfilling your laudable vision for our dear FUL as you keep on firing from all cylinders. May FUL record more successes under your stewardship, and may the seeds you have sown germinate and bring forth bountiful harvests that will take the University to a greater height.
