Members of the Presidential Visitation Panel to Federal University
Lokoja led by His Excellency, Ambassador Godknows Igali have arrived
the University to begin their assignment. The Team was warmly received by the
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi and his Management Team on Monday, April
26, 2021 at the Felele Campus.
The Visitation Panel interacted with Principal Officers and other
Senior Staff of the University, which marked the beginning of series of interactive
sessions that would further take place within the period that the Committee would
be in the University to carryout their assignment as directed by the Visitor to
the University, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Visitation Panel, His
Excellency, Ambassador Godknows Igali reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment
in ensuring that some of the challenges affecting Public Universities in
Nigeria were looked into with a view to addressing them, hence the need for the
Visitation Panel. He added that the Committee would be in the University till
Thursday (during the first visit) to interact with relevant stakeholders and
also receive reports and necessary documents that would help them in carrying
out the important assignment.
While reading out the Terms of Reference to Members of the
University Management, the Visitation Panel solicited the support and cooperation
of all stakeholders and Members of the University Community in order to achieve
their objectives in record time.
Other Members of the Panel were: Professor Aribisala J. Olugbenga,
Professor Christopher Eze, Barr. Ngozi Udodi, Bitrus Usmana, Barr. John Benson
Umoren, and Mrs. Claris N. Ujan who serves as the Secretary to the Visitation Panel.
